Google gaat online opslag bieden
Google wil een online harde schijf aanbieden om data van gebruikers op te slaan. De service krijgt waarschijnlijk de naam Gdrive mee.Dat blijkt uit een intern document van de zoekgigant dat per ongeluk is uitgelekt, zo meldt The Wall Street Journal. Bestuursvoorzitter Eric Schmidt deed zijn plannen uit de doeken richting analisten. Zijn document is door Google online gezet.
De zoekgigant wil 'honderd procent van de gebruikersdata' opslaan. Als voorbeelden worden de navigatiegeschiedenis, favorieten, e-mailberichten en afbeeldingen genoemd. Volgens de interne memo kan Google zijn belofte waarmaken indien het 'oneindige opslag' kan bieden.
Google stelt wel dat het bedrijf duidelijk vooraf toestemming vraagt aan de gebruiker om zo in de lijn van bestaande privacy-wetgeving te blijven.
